Turbulence in the airline industry and a developing hurricane didn’t mar a weeklong youth aviation camp or a “dream flight” that took more than 100 campers to Houston two weeks ago. The “Dream Flight” was one of the culminating events for teens attending Aviation Career Education (ACE) and Atlanta Flight Line camps this summer. The Organization of Black Airline Pilots (OBAP) in partnership with Delta Air Lines is in its eighth year of sponsoring the camps with the goal of fostering more diversity in the airline industry and encouraging teens of color and female teens to consider the array of aviation careers. Also along for the ride on the Dream Flight that departed Atlanta at 7 a.m. and returned 12 hours later were about 30 teens with other local aviation camps such as Federal Aviation Administration’s Young Eagles, Civil Air Patrol and Atlanta Public Schools.

Emergency Procedures
Emergency procedures are a very important part of your pilot training. Before you solo, you must be able to handle any mechanical malfunction which may happen while you're alone in the aircraft. We all want you home safelyso you won't be able to solo until you're proficient at your "E.P.'s".  Your instructor will introduce you to them a few flights into your training, and if you read this article and do what it says, you'll be prepared when the time comes.
